Education

My name is Christopher Ballard. I have a BA in Psychology from Argosy University. I earned my Associate of Arts degree at Golden West College, with a 3.5 GPA where I consistently made the Dean's list. During my high school years, I was an honor roll student at the Orange County High School of the Arts (OCHSA). I had the great honor of being an English and Math tutor for Elevate Learning. As a tutor for Elevate Learning, it was rewarding to see my students improve. I look forward to seeing my future students from University Tutor improve academically. I make learning fun. My life's objective is to make a difference in the world. As a tutor for University Tutor I have the opportunity to do so by bringing out the best from every student as I have done in my previous tutoring experiences. I impact students by encouraging and motivating them while focusing on their strengths. I truly care about my students. I always go the extra mile to ensure my student's success. I am also open to learning from my students during the teaching process. My passion is to empower students to develop a love for learning as a lifestyle. I want to contribute to creating a better world for all. Helping students become good citizens is a good place to start. Without a doubt, I strongly believe that tutoring at University Tutor would be instrumental in me reaching this goal. I am a violinist. I started violin lessons at age 6. I have had the opportunity to perform in numerous orchestras and prestigious venues. As a youngster, I enjoyed teaching my neighbor how to play the violin. I’m patient, kind and understanding especially when my students are not able to grasp the concept right away. For example, I had a student who had difficulty remembering the names of the violin strings. However, I remained patient, guiding her through the basics as she moved at her own pace. I know how to use different methods of instruction, such as working with students within their own zone of proximal development. English has always been my favorite subject. I enjoy reading and writing. That’s my passion. One of my screenplays entitled Common Cents became a Finalist in Extreme Screenwriting 2015 contest under the short script category and is also a Semi-Finalist in Reel Writers short screenplay contest this year. Through the years many teachers have been instrumental in my life. As my teachers have done for me, I am looking forward to inspire students. Nothing would please me more than to help students develop their innate skills and maximize their life potential, empowering them to reach their life’s dreams. Every child has unlimited potential. When I see a child, I see someone who can do great things for our society. As a tutor, I would water the seeds of greatness that’s already planted in the heart of every student. Please consider me to tutor your child. I strive to gain in-depth knowledge with regards to the subject matter. I create an atmosphere where students feel comfortable in the learning environment. Ultimately, I plan on launching a career as an English high school teacher. I have already been accepted to USC's Master of Arts in English Teaching and will be attending soon. Thank you for your consideration.
